The Czech Republic is a multi-party parliamentary representative democratic republic. According to the Constitution of the Czech Republic, the President is the head of state while the Prime Minister is the head of government, excercising supreme executive power.

- The Legislature is bicameral, with the Chamber of Deputies (Poslanecká sněmovna) and the Senate (Senát).
- The Chamber of Deputies has 200 members, elected for a four-year term by proportional representation with 5% election threshold.
- The Senate has 81 members, in single-seat constituencies elected by two-round runoff voting for six-year term with one third renewed every even year in the autumn.
- The President of the Czech Republic is elected by a direct vote for five years and he is a formal head of state with limited specific powers for example signing the enacted laws.
- The country's highest court of appeals is the Supreme Court. The Constitutional Court is appointed by the president with Senate approval, and its 15 members serve 10-year terms.
- Cabinet of the Czech Republic is the supreme executive body in the Czech Republic. The cabinet shall make its decisions as a body and consists of the Prime Minister and Ministers.
